What Is Action Research?

After learning that there are specific types of research, I've realized that action research is very beneficial in the world of education. It is a very important and intricate process that allows researchers and learners to not only dig deep into a topic, but to find solutions to problems, ways to improve situations, etc. and become a stakeholder by implementing his or her findings in a setting in which they will be beneficial to all parties involved. Simple research is basically just gathering data on a specific topic, and then analyzing the findings, which will not provide the learner with as much opportunity to have ownership of the findings, because the information is not necessarily being applied to a situation. I’m definitely supportive of learning to perform action research as a leader in my school in hopes that I will find ways to provide improvement, growth, and guidance as much as possible. I want to model this behavior so that others may follow in my footsteps and perform their own action research projects, whether it is classroom level or school wide. During my action research for this course, I plan to gather and analyze as much data as possible and learn all aspects of action research so that I can become comfortable with process.
